Walmart set to make drastic changes in 2024 to give customers ‘more time’

Walmart is rolling out another major change to its stores, which will affect the customer experience for millions of shoppers next year.
The retail giant is looking for ways to stop theft and other similar issues by improving locations in 2024.
From next year, shoppers will see delivery offices and even police stations in some Walmart stores.
According to the retailer, these latest changes are looking to increase satisfaction among customers.
This will be done either by shortening the time shoppers can receive their online order or by making sure the products are in-store to begin with.

As it stands, around 4,000 Walmart locations operate as delivery hubs, which help facilitate online orders.
Consumers can go to their local store for their supermarket purchases and other home goods needs.
However, Walmart shoppers can also have items delivered directly from the country’s biggest retailer locally.
According to the superstore in November, the organization was looking to expand delivery capabilities even further.
One of the recommendations to do this was to create more in-store parcel stations at Walmart.
As part of this rollout, the company has described these new stations as a “mini post office” found within locations.
Usually, package orders start being processed in the store’s fulfilment centers ahead of being moved to a sorting station or location.
As a result, these new parcel stations are being created to assist in streamlining this particular process.
Jennifer McKeehan, the senior vice president of Transportation and Delivery at Walmart US, shared the company’s reasoning behind carrying this out.
She explained: “For customers, parcel stations give them more time to place online orders on a greater assortment of merchandise for Next Day Delivery.
“For associates, we’re making it easier and more efficient to distribute online orders from stores.
“Collectively, the entire process builds density to lower the cost of delivery, which we can reinvest back into the customer experience.”
